Russian Archaeologists Discover Ancient Mosque Building Aged 1000 Years
Group of Russian archaeologists found an ancient mosque in Kazan, capital of Tatarstan. The mosque building is 1000 years old dipekirakan. These findings may indicate the religion of Islam had spread to the region earlier than the estimates of historians over the years.
Arkeolgi Russian experts continued to perform excavation to ensure a structure of an ancient mosque that was found buried underground. Excavations were conducted after the study which is quite long, about 11 years following the discovery of the location of the Palace buildings "Kremlin" Kazan.
According to experts, this discovery proves that the Islamic mosques are well known in Kazan since the 10th century or almost simultaneously with the founding of the city of Kazan. At that Kazan is the capital of "Khanate of Kazan." While historians have been convinced that the religion of Islam began to go to Tatarstan in the 15th century.
In the excavation, the archaeologists also found the ruins of another banguan composed of white stones. Ruins, according to experts, was built at the position facing the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
